Nov 29 2016 - Dec 04 2016

CONTEXT: Art Miami
Midtown Miami | Wynwood 118 NE 34th Street
Miami, FL

Sound Positions, curated by Christoph Cox, creates immersive and intimate situations for listening to work by an international selection of emerging and established sound artists. The exhibition features 12 listening stations, each dedicated to the work of one artist.

Nevarez and Tevere's work Parley uses the musical framework of call and response to form a multilingual dialogue between two voices. The conversation is created through cut-up techniques and sampling of song lyrics from the early days of hip-hop. The piece is spoken by b-girl Rokafella (Ana Garcia) and MC Lady L (Lynn Saunders), both significant innovators in the hip hop scene.
