Deborah Stratman's Creative Capital-supported project, The Illinois Parable, will have its New York premiere in 'Projections' at the NY Film Festival on October 7th. This will be followed by a one-week run at NYC's Anthology Film Archives in November (Nov. 16-22). The Illinois Parables is an experimental documentary combining a series of regional narratives questioning the roles that doubt and mysticism play in social ideology. Mythic histories of violence, atomic breakthrough, utopias and vigilante justice comprise a suite of Midwestern parables. This film gathers sites and events that evoke the spiritual vis-à-vis the political.
