House

Richard Maxwell

Richard Maxwell wrote, directed, and produced his OBIE award-winning play House around the world, at the Ontological Theater (New York, NY), P.S. 122 (New York, NY), The Holland Festival (Amsterdam), Theater der Welt, (Berlin), The Wexner Center (Columbus, OH), The Vienna Festival, Dublin Fringe Festival, Ireland Festival, D’Automne (Paris), DeSingel (Antwerp), Festival de Theatre de Ameriques (Montreal), Barbican Center (London), and in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The hour-long play is about a murder in a mundane suburban family that relies on silences to communicate. The plot has clear outlines and minimal detail, creating the effect of overheard conversations on a train.
