Multi-Arts
Production (MAP) Fund In 2000, Creative Capital began administering the Multi-Arts Production (MAP) Fund. In 1988, the Multi-Arts Production (MAP) Fund was established by the Rockefeller Foundation to encourage the boldest and most creative approaches to new work in the performing arts. The goal of the MAP Fund is to foster work in the performing arts that explores the dynamics of contemporary culture and to support a diversity of artists and arts organizations. After managing the MAP Fund on behalf of the Rockefeller Foundation for three years, in 2004 the Creative Capital Foundation assumed all administrative responsibilities for the Fund. The MAP Fund is a highly competitive annual program, funding less than 8 percent of the approximately 460 applications it receives per year. In 2004, the MAP Fund will provide $1 million in grants ranging from approximately $15,000 to $50,000. Funds will support up to 40 projects by US-based nonprofit organizations undertaking the commissioning, development and/or production of new work in theater, music composition, dance, puppetry, opera and interdisciplinary performance. To date, the MAP Fund has supported 572 projects with a total of $13.3 million. In 2003 grants were awarded in amounts ranging from $10,000 to $35,000 to 43 projects. |
