Literary Artists Workshop

A module tailored to the needs of literary artists is currently in development. Working with literary artists to navigate the challenges of the rapidly-changing publishing industry, this workshop provides information and resources for poets and writers of fiction and non-fiction who seek to improve their careers. Topics include working with a publisher, publishing timelines, self-promotion and grants and residencies for writers. This workshop will be available as an “add-on” to the Core Curriculum Weekend and as part of the Online Learning Program.

Performance Documentation One-Day Workshop

This one-day workshop will provide dance, theater and performance artists with the opportunity to improve the documentation and preservation of time-based work. The workshop will provide hands-on experiences with video editing, camera placement and cinematography, as well as a discussion of best practices for documentation. Artists will learn techniques they can use themselves, or discuss with outside resources, to create the highest possible quality representations of live performance for use in personal archives, work samples and beyond.

Real Community Engagement

This fundraising-related workshop enables participants to look at some of the strategies and practices around making and supporting community-engaged art, including ways to engage groups of people in the process, production, funding and distribution of the work. The workshop will use case studies to discuss grassroots fundraising, community partnerships, autonomy and integrity of one’s work, audience building and other issues. The workshop participants will work through a series of questions and exercises that will help to build strategies for successful community-based fundraising.
