Artist Projects

On Our Radar

Welcome to On Our Radar, a searchable database featuring nearly 300 Emerging Fields, Literature and Performing Arts projects that advanced to the second or third round in last year's highly competitive award selection process.

Although these projects were not ultimately funded by Creative Capital, we feel they are artists to watch, and we invite you to explore them. This site will be online until September 30, 2016.

What Happened to Paula O.

In 1970, an 18-year-old Iowan girl was murdered. While no one was ever tried, evidence suggests she died during an illegal abortion. Her death, forgotten, speaks to the way we treated (and still treat) women in this country. What Happened to Paula O. is a book about the societal factors that lead to her death.

Yourcom City

Yourcom City is a fully immersive 3D environment that places the participant squarely inside her own computer. File systems are represented by an urban sprawl; large files become skyscrapers, photos are hoisted up on glowing billboards, theaters play movie files, and one is made a stranger in their own machine.

A Mauve Bird with Yellow Teeth Red Feathers Green Feet and a Rose Belly is a multidisciplinary performance, in which vast colors, inflatables, sound and dance combine to create an immersive psychological landscape exploring the idea of empathy. It could be viewed as a “handheld history,” a collection of personal accounts about transformation within a culture. Tamar Ettun investigates the concepts of movement and stillness in relation to the other.
