2008 Film/Video grantees Marshall Curry and Sam Cullman premiere If a Tree Falls: A Story of the Earth Liberation Front at IFC Center in New York next week.

An official selection of the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and winner of the U.S. Documentary Editing Award, If a Tree Falls is a feature-length documentary that offers a behind-the-curtain look at the Earth Liberation Front (ELF), the radical environmental group that the FBI calls America’s “number one domestic terrorist threat.” The film tells the story of Daniel McGowan, an ELF member who participated in two multi-million-dollar arsons against Oregon timber companies. If a Tree Falls explores how a working class kid from Queens (the son of a New York cop who was a business major in college) found himself facing life in prison for “eco-terrorism.” Tickets and showtimes will be available at IFCcenter.com on Monday, June 20.

If a Tree Falls is distributed by Oscilloscope Laboratories and will screen nationwide this summer. Click here for more information and screening times.
