Artist Services Assistant

Creative Capital, a national non-profit artist support organization, seeks a full time assistant to join the Artist Services Department. The Artist Services department is a small and creative team working in a dynamic office environment with colleagues who are equally committed to supporting individual artists. We strive to develop opportunities for artist support and provide rapid responses to the changing conditions of the artists’ projects. Our department executes ambitious programs within a lean environment, but taking time to recharge is encouraged and expected. Position Summary
The Artist Services Assistant reports to the Director, Resources & Awards Programs and supports a range of programs designed to assist awardees realize their imaginative and ambitious projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • • Assist with the Creative Capital award application, including information sessions, responding to applicant requests for information and assignment of applications for review by consultants at each stage of the award cycle.

  • • Monitor applications moving through process to ensure requirements are met, provide demographic reports for staff, and maintain electronic files related to all aspects of the award cycle as needed.

  • • Assist with the Advisory Program, including communication with awardees, researching new consultants, and developing new services in consideration for additions to the Advisory Program.

  • • Assist with the logistics of the foundation’s artist community building programs including invitations, registration, travel, lodging and technical requirements. Process all travel reimbursements and honorariums.

  • • Maintain memberships with various online resources (Facebook, Fractured Atlas, etc.)

  • • Manage database and record keeping for consultants, awardees and CC artist library.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel required, additional experience with

    • Filemaker, WordPress, Salesforce and email marketing tools a plus.

  • • Self-motivated and self-directed.

  • • A minimum of an associate’s degree from an accredited college.

  • • Background and interest in all contemporary art forms a plus.

    • The Artist Services position will be based in the Creative Capital offices in New York, 40 hours per week, with an annual salary of $50,000 and benefits.

Director of Marketing and Communications

This position reports to the President and Executive Director, and plays an integral role in the CC team. The Director of Marketing and Communications leads the communications and marketing team, which includes the Web Manager, Communications Manager, Marketing Associate (currently vacant) and Communications Assistant. The position offers the opportunity to be part of a dynamic office environment committed to supporting contemporary artists in all disciplines.

Responsibilities include:

  • • Provide strategic planning and implementation of all CC marketing and communications efforts: Direct the development and creative process for multi-platform marketing and communications programs and tools, utilizing both internal and external resources. Lead conversations with Artist Services, Professional Development and Development departments to define digital & print needs, online and social media presence, design direction, program and campaign messages, press targets, and advertising.

  • • Oversee big-picture strategy for Creative Capital’s web presence: Plan for periodic content review and updating (with Web Manager and other departments); manage special projects related to web development or design as needed.

  • • Set marketing timelines and budgets: Develop and implement project-specific communications and marketing plans. Oversee timelines for each press and marketing component (including e-blasts, web content, and social media) and share timelines across departments. Manage and meet budget goals.

  • • Leader and chief motivator of the communications and marketing team: Motivate the team through enthusiastic management, and ensure that the team is professional and performing at its best. Work with team members to ensure that the goals and deadlines are being met e.g. the website is up to date, accurate and clear, social media efforts are effectively reaching audiences, press updates have been circulated.

  • • Develop annual stakeholder strategy: Establish goals to expand national visibility and partnerships using print, social media, web, events, advertising, and other creative strategies that position specific programs and services within a larger institutional context. Analyze data and adjust strategies in response to industry trends. Prepare regular reports to Executive Director and Board of Directors on campaigns, audiences, engagement, and other outcomes and future planning.

  • • Brand champion: Ensure cohesion and consistency in the presentation of CC’s brand and core language (history, mission, equity and inclusion, and programs). Ensure that CC is always prominently and branded on all marketing materials, and that all forms of communication have a clear call to action and are accessible to our core audience and the wider public. Continuously refine and pursue strategic ways to innovate and advance CC’s brand.

  • • Build media partnerships: Develop strategic relationships with national press and media contacts to ensure coverage of major CC news.

  • • Work with Director of Development to build individual and corporate support: Work collaboratively with the Development team to strategize concept, language, and graphics for engaging and visually compelling presentations to donors, and ensure supporters are respectfully represented at events and in the media.

  • • Work with President and Executive Director on organizational messaging: Write major speeches, press quotes and contributions to publications. Collaborate with Board of Directors on major organizational announcements and board-initiated communications.

Requirements:

Must have a minimum of 7 years of marketing and PR experience, preferably in a non-profit or arts environment. Must be self-directed and have the ability to see the big picture while remaining mindful of resources. Must be a team leader and motivator. Must have strong writing skills and knowledge of fun and clever communications methods. Must be professional, respectful, timely, detail-oriented, accurate and comfortable using a framework to examine difference, and barriers to equity and inclusion. Must have an interest in artists and arts practices. The Director of Marketing and Communications should be strategic and data-driven with the ability and motivation to maximize coverage for Creative Capital in innovative and measurable ways. Candidate should have strong national press relationships with art and cultural critics, as well as media partners and sponsors.

The Director of Marketing & Communications will be based in the Creative Capital offices in New York, 40 hours per week, with competitive pay and full benefits.
