FOUR CREATIVE CAPITAL GRANTEES HONORED

Americans for the Arts Public Art Network honors the work of four Creative Capital grantees in the 2004 Year in Review

NEW YORK, NY (July 20, 2004) – Projects by grantees Mel Chin, William Pope.L, Mary Ellen Strom, as well as Matthew Geller’s funded project Foggy Day are featured in the Public Art Network’s (PAN) 2004 Year in Review, the American for the Arts survey of the “most successful, innovative, and exciting public art projects in the U.S.” From a field of 189 entries, Ellen Driscoll and Sculpture magazine editor Glen Harper selected their work to be among the 39 projects recognized. PAN presented the Year in Review at the Americans for the Arts and the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies Second Joint Convention which took place July 17–20, 2004 in Washington, D.C.

PAN is a program of Americans for the Arts designed to provide services to the diverse field of public art and to develop strategies and tools to improve communities through public art. PAN’s key constituents are public art professionals, visual artists, design professionals, arts organizations, and communities.

The Year in Review selections will be presented in a program at Public Arts: Civic Catalyst in Washington, DC, in July. For more information about the event, visit www.pARTicipateWeb.org. Those selections are also included in an online presentation, slide set, and CD. These items will be available on Americans for the Arts’ website in the fall at www.AmericansForTheArts.org.
