CREATIVE CAPITAL'S ONLINE RESPONSE TO THE TRAGEDY ON SEPTEMBER 11, 2001

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

We are shocked and saddened by the recent tragic events. For the many who have lost and suffered as a result, you are in our hearts and minds. For grantees, associates, and others expressing concern for our well being, we can report that everyone on staff is safe. We thank you for your thoughts and are heartened by the network of support and contact in the arts community. From petitions for peace and justice to nationwide fundraising events, the work by the cultural community continues to promote healing and to affirm life.

As you may know, we have initiated our 2001 grant cycle and are currently accepting applications for performing arts and emerging fields. We have extended the deadline to Monday, November 5, 2001 and will post any other changes in the grant process on our website.

Many are wondering how to help and to respond. At this point, it is clear that recovery efforts will be ongoing; while the immediate outpouring of response is expected, it is the work down the road that needs to be remembered.
